STORY

“Shirobako” is a term used to describe a video tape in a white box that is used in the motion picture industry. When one project is completed, it is the first fruit of labor that the production team receives. Compared to the final retail products, such as a Blu-Ray or DVD decorated with illustrations or photographs, shirobako may be simple, but this is the trophy of creators’ passion and efforts.
This story takes place around five girls who all work in the Japanese animation industry to complete a shirobako. This is a heartfelt story about the animation industry’s daily hardships, conflicts and struggles in a creative environment, and arguments and unity in a group effort.
The five girls aim to achieve their dreams.
Hope lights their path to success.
